Astoria revels in 200-year history, but new things in town keep Columbia River port vibrant

With 200 years in the bank recently (in 2011), Astoria is not resting on its laurels.

The Columbia River city, located within a stiff sniff of Pacific Ocean air, is constantly adding new attractions and business.

Back in May, The Oregonian and OregonLive.com published reporting by Lori Tobias of the new Garden of Surging Waves downtown, as well as the new exhibit of the Arch Cape cannons, recovered and restored from the 1846 shipwreck of the USS Stark, at the Columbia River Maritime Museum.

Here, we look at some other new features in Astoria, as well as some oldies but goodies that keep Portland's visiting the gem city of the lower Columbia River.
