The good ship HMS Pinafore is headed for the ports of Astoria, Oregon! Singers from Cascadia Chamber Opera and their invited guests, the North Coast Chorale, are all on board to sing Gilbert and Sullivan’s beloved songs and choruses from the operetta HMS Pinafore or The Lass That Loved A Sailor. Sung in English, the concert performances will feature soloists, chorus, and piano, telling the tale of love between members of different social classes. Josephine, a middle-class naval captain’s daughter (betrothed to the upper-class government official Admiral Joseph, in charge of the Royal Navy) is really in love with a lower-class common sailor, Ralph Rackstraw. Find out how Little Buttercup’s secret will affect this love triangle and who will end up tying the knot! Come sail away with the good right Captain Corcoran at the helm and his gallant crew of sailors along with a bunch of sisters, cousins, and aunts and crusty old Dick Deadeye! The cast includes local favorites ChrisLynn Taylor, Deac Guidi, Will Capplinger, and Bob Goldber as well as Jocelyn Claire Thomas, Zachary Lenox, Timothy McCoy, Victoria McCoy, Bernie Robe, and Sandy Naishtat. The two concertized performances of the operetta will be on Friday, September 27th 2019 at 7:00pm and Sunday, September 29th 2019 at 4:00pm at the Performing Arts Center located at 588 16th Street, on the corner of 16th and Franklin in Astoria Oregon. Tickets are $20 and available in advance at Brown Paper Tickets HMS PINAFORE or at the door.
