Join the fun as we celebrate Clamshell Railroad Days July 13th & 14th at the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum with expanded events and old favorites. The $5.00 admission fee includes a souvenir pin and Museum entrance for 2 days, kids under 12 are free. On Saturday doors open at 10am with model train layouts hosted by the Peninsula Model Railroad Club. Guests will include the Mt. Rainer N-scale club, the Pacific Northwest On30 Club and Dean and Donna Mead’s fantastic Lego train among others. Kids will love the Kid’s Craft Caboose with fun crafts. Saturday July 13th will include the Operation Lifesaver Locomotive simulator – your opportunity to feel what it is like to drive the train. Susan Carney, Ilwaco Timberland Librarian read train stories for kids. Join us on Sunday, July 14th at 1:30 for an illustrated presentation Stepping back in time: horse drawn transportation in the 19th century with Jerry Bowman, Curator Northwest Carriage Museum. Bowman will pay special attention to the transition from carriage to rail in his talk. The railcar NAHCOTTA will be open for touring both days. Members of the NAHCOTTA Preservation Committee will be onsite to talk about new findings and the ongoing preservation of the railcar.
