2023 Holiday 5k Fun Run and Walk Series Grab your friends, family, and running shoes, and get into the spirit this season by participating in Astoria Parks and Recreation’s annual festive, fun-filled Holiday 5k Series! Costumes are encouraged! This series is comprised of 4 holiday-themed races spanning October to December. Pre-registration is required. Ages: All ages (see below for information relating to wheelchairs and strollers) • Children 5 and younger with an accompanying adult can participate for free • Award Categories: 0-12 years, 13-18 years, 19-35 years, 36-55 years, 56+ years • Time Record: A race clock will be provided; participants will be responsible for recognizing and recording their own race time • Prizes & Giveaways: Runners participating in individual races will receive a small participation token; Participants who race in all 4 5k’s of the Holiday 5k Series will receive a Holiday 5k Series medal • Registration Closes: Online registration closes at noon the day prior to the race; cash-only day-of registration will be available on-site Cost: • $15 per race OR • $50 to participate all 4 races of the Holiday 5k Series Fun Run & Walk Details: • Run 1: Costume 5k Fun Run & Walk • Date: Saturday, October 28, 2023 • Time: 8am Race Start; 7am-7:45am Check In • Location: Astoria Riverwalk in front of the Barbey Maritime Center (2042 Marine Drive) • Run 2: Turkey Trot 5k Fun Run & Walk • Date: Saturday, November 25, 2023 • Time: 8am Race Start; 7am-7:45am Check In • Location: Astoria Riverwalk in front of the Barbey Maritime Center (2042 Marine Drive) • Run 3: Ugly Sweater 5k Fun Run & Walk • Date: Saturday, December 16, 2023 • Time: 4pm Race Start; 3-3:45pm Check In • Location: Astoria Riverwalk at 14th street Pier • Run 4: New Year’s 5k Fun Run & Walk • Date: Saturday, December 30, 2023 • Time: 8am Race Start; 7am-7:45am Check In • Location: Astoria Riverwalk in front of the Barbey Maritime Center (2042 Marine Drive) Rules & Regulations • Participants will receive a race bib at registration prior to race start, to be worn on the front of the participant’s running attire. • Wheelchairs and strollers are allowed on the race course; please assess the feasibility and safety of the race course on your own. • Dogs are welcome but must abide by the following: be on a 6ft leash or shorter; must be up to date on their rabies vaccination; must not be a female in heat. Owners are responsible for picking up and discarding of waste. Owners are not to let their dog approach another dog without permission from the owner. • Participants may not bring any weapons, or replica weapons, as part of their costume. • Participants accept full responsibility for any damage or loss to costumes that may occur during the race. • Participants must stay within the course boundaries and are responsible for recognizing and understanding event signage and symbols relating to maps, facilities, and directions. • Failure to follow policies as outlined may result in immediate disqualification from the event, loss of prizes, and/or ban from future events. Cancellations and Refunds: All refunds/credits will be assessed a $10.00 administration fee. Refunds and • credits for activity cancellations will be given based on the following timeline: • Full Refund: when canceling at least 3 weeks prior to the program start date • 50% Refund: when canceling 1-3 weeks prior to the program start date • 50% Credit: when canceling within 1 week of the program start date • Refunds and credits will not be given once the program has started
