Ten Fifteen Productions pivots once again with The Taming.
Astoria, OR - Ten Fifteen Productions is once again proving its agility since a storm caused significant damage to its Astoria Odd Fellows building home last December. Due to a number of outside factors, the theater will be reopening with a different production than planned. Theatre enthusiasts should mark their calendars for May 29th for opening night of The Taming by Lauren Gunderson. Director Katherine Lacaze leads a powerhouse cast and crew in this political farce that takes the place of the originally scheduled production of Sensitive Guys.
In an email to patrons, executive artistic director, Danyelle Tinker, stated “Changing scripts after the season has been planned and announced is not something I did lightly; but fear you not, dear friends, as the new show promises to be the hilarious reset we all need right now. The Taming is a laugh-a-minute while still touching on some important topics facing our country and government. Frankly, if I had read this script a year ago, it would have been a planned part of the season to begin with.”
About the show: Tweetering, panda shrews, and undying giddiness for James Madison – what else could you expect to find at a Miss America pageant? In this hilarious, raucous, all-female “power-play” inspired by Shakespeare‘s Shrew, contestant Katherine has political aspirations to match her beauty pageant ambitions. All she needs to revolutionize the American government is the help of one ultra-conservative senator‘s aide on the cusp of a career breakthrough, and one bleeding-heart liberal blogger who will do anything for her cause. Well, that and a semi-historically-accurate ether trip. Here‘s lookin‘ at you, America.

Pack the kids, bring a blanket, and come play at the Flavel House Museum! Join us for “Old-Fashioned Fun & Games,” a free, family-friendly weekend on the museum lawn, Saturday and Sunday, June 27th–28th, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.
This weekend is all about old-school outdoor play—running, laughing, and trying something new together. Families can jump into classic lawn games like badminton and croquet, then cheer each other on during crowd favorites such as sack races and a pie-eating competition. Kids can also try vintage favorites like hoop-and-stick, ball-and-cup, stilts, and rope-making. Prizes will be awarded throughout the day.
Hungry? Grab a corn dog (yes—Victorian-era families did, too) and sip some lemonade while kids discover how children in the past made their own fun.
This event is made possible thanks to our friends at Columbia Memorial Hospital Pediatrics.
