Visitors are invited to experience one of Astoria’s remarkable living landmarks during Tree Talk: Giant Sequoia and Coast Redwood in Oregon, a special presentation at the Flavel House Museum on Saturday, September 12, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
Presented by Dan Stark, OSU Forestry and Natural Resources Extension Agent, the program will explore giant sequoias and coast redwoods in western Oregon. Participants will also have the opportunity to see and touch the well-known giant sequoia planted by Captain George Flavel’s gardener around 1890 on the grounds of the Flavel House. Tree hugging is encouraged..
The program offers a distinctive opportunity to explore forestry and local history in the setting of one of Astoria’s best-known historic properties. Participants will learn more about two iconic tree species while encountering a giant sequoia that has stood on the Flavel House grounds for more than a century.

Ten Fifteen Productions to announce 2027 Season.
Ten Fifteen Productions will announce their 2027 season of shows during a free event on Saturday, September 19th, beginning at 7:00pm.
About the event: A double celebration of sorts, combining a reflection of the past year and sharing what is to come; Executive Artistic Director, Danyelle Tinker, will announce the productions slated for 2027, and introduce the directors who will then share additional information about their individual shows.
“In what has been a challenging year, it feels good to have Ten Fifteen back on track and looking ahead to the future.”, said Tinker. “It was only a few short months ago that I could barely fathom planning weeks ahead, let alone an entire year. I continue to be so grateful to our incredible community who stuck with us during the hard times.“
Season packages will be available for purchase at a discounted rate that will be offered exclusively at the event before all 2027 ticket options become available to the public on September 21st.
Light refreshments will be provided, and everyone's first drink of the night will be on the house, with a cash bar available throughout the evening.
This event is free to the public, however reserving a seat is strongly recommended and can be done by visiting the ticketing page at www.thetenfifteentheater.com.
