Dig out your old maps and pirate doubloons and head for the Oregon coast, because this weekend we celebrate one of the most adventurous days of the year, Goonies Day!

As part of the film's 25th anniversary in 2010, longtime Astoria Mayor Willis Van Dusen officially declared Goonies Day on June 7 – the date the movie was released. This year Goonies Day has evolved into a three-day celebration, with Goonies-related activities, tours and specials all over the coastal Oregon town.

The Astoria Warrenton Chamber of Commerce has a full schedule of events, but if you really want to do Goonies Day right, you can't miss the daily treasure hunt on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, or the self-guided tours of the house that belonged to Mikey Walsh and his family in the movie.

The 2014 celebration comes amid rumors that a "Goonies" sequel is in the works. It isn't the first time the "Goonies" rumor mill has spun, but this time the rumor comes from an actual video of director Richard Donner saying, "we're doing a sequel."

The video comes from a TMZ reporter who gets the quote after badgering Donner while he's signing autographs, so we'll have to take it with a grain of salt. Still, it's enough to get fans excited to do the Truffle Shuffle all over again.
