A Mother’s Day Tea and Vintage Fashion Show is being hosted on May 2nd in First Presbyterian Church's Goodenberger Hall at 2:00pm. The event will include a Cake Walk, Best Hat Contest, Silent Auction, Door Prizes, and High Tea, as well as a Vintage Fashion Show with song and dance performances. The event will finish with authentic gowns from the film “Titanic”. This fundraiser supports an important historical building housing two church families, a musical conservatory, dance academy, and food bank. Boston-based guitarist and composer Aaron Larget-Caplan returns to Astoria for a celebratory concert of his twelfth album ‘Guitar America 250 – Revolutionaries and Rockstars’. Featuring music from pre-Civil War through the World Wars, classical composers Irving Berlin and Leonard Bernstein, and cultural icons Paul Simon and Eddie Van Halen, as well as spoken word performed by local Astorians from Astoria High School, reciting poetry by Walt Whitman and Frances Harper. The 1-hour concert takes place at the Charlene Larsen Center for the Performing Arts, 588 16th Street in Astoria. Doors open at 3:30pm. CDs, sheet music, and stickers will be available.

Celebrate Washington’s birthday while learning about the state marine mammal, the Orca! Build your own orca paper bag puppet and get some killer fun facts. During Sensory Sunday, audio in the exhibits are lowered or turned completely off and the Ford Room is turned into a self-regulation station with soft seating, dimmed lights, fidgets and activities. Sensory Sunday runs the first Sunday of the month except January, July, and December.

The Clatsop County Historical Society invites the community to celebrate Mother’s Day with a relaxing afternoon of tea and pastries at the Flavel House Museum. Mother’s Day Tea and Scones takes place Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, in the Flavel House Museum dining room, 714 Exchange St, Astoria.

Guests will be served hot tea with scones and other sweet pastries in the historic dining room, then enjoy a self-guided tour of the Victorian mansion. Reservations are encouraged.

Step into the layered story of Astoria, where river, sea, and hillside converge, on a guided walking tour through the Downtown Astoria Historic District. Offered weekly by the Lower Columbia Preservation Society, these tours explore the architectural heritage, working waterfront history, and civic ambitions that shaped Oregon’s oldest American settlement.

Tours are point-to-point, beginning at the Astoria Nordic Heritage Park and concluding at the Flavel House Museum, traversing approximately ten blocks over the course of 90 minutes. Along the way, participants encounter landmark commercial buildings, vernacular streetscapes, and stories of industry, immigration, and resilience that continue to define Astoria’s character.

Walking tours are offered Sundays, from Mother’s Day through mid-October, and are led by knowledgeable LCPS volunteer guides with deep ties to local history and preservation advocacy. Each tour emphasizes both architectural observation and the broader cultural context of the place inviting participants to see familiar streets with fresh eyes. The tour will finish with enough time to enjoy lunch at the Sunday Market in downtown Astoria, or you'll be in time to join the Liberty Theater tour starting at noon.

World Cup of Food is a FUNdraiser for Clatsop County food banks and pantries. The 3v3 soccer tournament will have divisions for grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, ages 19-30 and 31 and above. Divisions will be for males and females with a coed option for ages 19 and above if enough teams register. THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS APRIL 15. All proceeds will go to Clatsop Community Action's Regional Food Bank. Information is on CCA's website.

Learn the basics of lathework in this introductory woodturning class where students will create a set of their own lighthouse tea lights. Students will receive personal, hands-on instruction as they get to know the feel of the lathe before beginning on their final project.

MusicOregon is conducting a statewide listening tour across seven Oregon communities from May 16 through May 23, 2026. Each stop is a free, two-hour public gathering open to musicians, venue operators, music educators, producers, managers, and anyone who works in or alongside the local music scene. The gatherings are conversation-first: no formal presentations, no agenda beyond listening. Participants will help define MusicOregon's statewide programming, partnerships, and advocacy priorities for the next two years. The tour is funded in part by the Oregon Community Foundation through its Arts Rebuilding Grant program, and reflects MusicOregon's expansion beyond its Portland origins into all of Oregon's major music regions: the North Coast, the Willamette Valley, Southern Oregon, Central Oregon, and Northeastern Oregon. Our crew is looking at the mouth of the Columbia’s own beginnings by highlighting several significant vessels and how they have change over time. Join the Uniontown Association on Memorial Day, May 25th at 3:00 pm at the Maritime Memorial Park as the names on the memorial walls are read and remembered by our community. Since the 1990’s this tradition has been a important part of the remembrance of those no longer with us who were involved in maritime activities. Bring flowers to place in the river as names are read of those you wish to remember and celebrate. Extra flowers are appreciated. Coffee and cookies provided.

Astoria, OR - Ten Fifteen Productions is once again proving its agility since a storm caused significant damage to its Astoria Odd Fellows building home last December. Due to a number of outside factors, the theater will be reopening with a different production than planned. Theatre enthusiasts should mark their calendars for May 29th for opening night of The Taming by Lauren Gunderson. Director Katherine Lacaze leads a powerhouse cast and crew in this political farce that takes the place of the originally scheduled production of Sensitive Guys.

In an email to patrons, executive artistic director, Danyelle Tinker, stated “Changing scripts after the season has been planned and announced is not something I did lightly; but fear you not, dear friends, as the new show promises to be the hilarious reset we all need right now. The Taming is a laugh-a-minute while still touching on some important topics facing our country and government. Frankly, if I had read this script a year ago, it would have been a planned part of the season to begin with.”

About the show: Tweetering, panda shrews, and undying giddiness for James Madison – what else could you expect to find at a Miss America pageant? In this hilarious, raucous, all-female “power-play” inspired by Shakespeare‘s Shrew, contestant Katherine has political aspirations to match her beauty pageant ambitions. All she needs to revolutionize the American government is the help of one ultra-conservative senator‘s aide on the cusp of a career breakthrough, and one bleeding-heart liberal blogger who will do anything for her cause. Well, that and a semi-historically-accurate ether trip. Here‘s lookin‘ at you, America.

Lower Columbia Classics Car Club Annual Car Show bringing car enthusiasts from the region to Astoria to show off their rides. Proceeds from the show support the automotive and technical programs at the local college and high schools. First 60 pre-registered cars are guaranteed an indoor parking spot.

Ten Fifteen Productions pivots once again with The Taming.

Astoria, OR - Ten Fifteen Productions is once again proving its agility since a storm caused significant damage to its Astoria Odd Fellows building home last December. Due to a number of outside factors, the theater will be reopening with a different production than planned. Theatre enthusiasts should mark their calendars for May 29th for opening night of The Taming by Lauren Gunderson. Director Katherine Lacaze leads a powerhouse cast and crew in this political farce that takes the place of the originally scheduled production of Sensitive Guys.

In an email to patrons, executive artistic director, Danyelle Tinker, stated “Changing scripts after the season has been planned and announced is not something I did lightly; but fear you not, dear friends, as the new show promises to be the hilarious reset we all need right now. The Taming is a laugh-a-minute while still touching on some important topics facing our country and government. Frankly, if I had read this script a year ago, it would have been a planned part of the season to begin with.”

About the show: Tweetering, panda shrews, and undying giddiness for James Madison – what else could you expect to find at a Miss America pageant? In this hilarious, raucous, all-female “power-play” inspired by Shakespeare‘s Shrew, contestant Katherine has political aspirations to match her beauty pageant ambitions. Step into the layered story of Astoria, where river, sea, and hillside converge, on a guided walking tour through the Downtown Astoria Historic District. Offered weekly by the Lower Columbia Preservation Society, these tours explore the architectural heritage, working waterfront history, and civic ambitions that shaped Oregon’s oldest American settlement.

Tours are point-to-point, beginning at the Astoria Nordic Heritage Park and concluding at the Flavel House Museum, traversing approximately ten blocks over the course of 90 minutes. Along the way, participants encounter landmark commercial buildings, vernacular streetscapes, and stories of industry, immigration, and resilience that continue to define Astoria’s character.

Walking tours are offered Sundays, from Mother’s Day through mid-October, and are led by knowledgeable LCPS volunteer guides with deep ties to local history and preservation advocacy. Each tour emphasizes both architectural observation and the broader cultural context of the place inviting participants to see familiar streets with fresh eyes. The tour will finish with enough time to enjoy lunch at the Sunday Market in downtown Astoria, or you'll be in time to join the Liberty Theater tour starting at noon.
