I was thrilled when I saw an email from the Astoria Warrenton Area Chamber of Commerce complimenting my photos and inviting me to a weekend getaway at the Oregon Coast. Before I could finish reading the email, I started figuring out the best dates for the adventure. When I got the dates confirmed, we started planning out our trip.
We were put into a cool hotel right on the water called Astoria Riverwalk Inn. Our room was Oregon Coast themed with antique signs, furniture, and luggage displays. After settling in at about 5 PM, we visited some family members that live in town and headed to Buoy Beer Co. for burgers, fries, and you guessed it, beer! I highly recommend this restaurant/brewery to anyone that visits Astoria. They have a great atmosphere and the menu items were delicious!

The following day, we got up early and headed to Street 14 Cafe for breakfast and again, the food was amazing. I had the Sunrise Sandwich which had eggs, local greens, cheddar, and aioli all between a house-made english muffin. The extra $3.25 for the house-made sausage was definitely worth it! My wonderful partner on this trip, Abbie, had the Seasonal Vegetable Hash (which wasn't vegetable anymore after she added the house-made sausage) which was also excellent. On the side we enjoyed a warm cup of coffee seated by the window. Street 14 Cafe definitely has more of a Portland vibe which we were both really into. It was very welcoming and made us feel at home with the decor around the inside.

As we finished breakfast, it was time to get on our way to High Life Adventure to go zip lining! Abbie was nervous since she had never been before and heights aren't really her thing. When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly staff and ended up being the only people in our zip lining tour for the day. Once we got geared up, our awesome tour guides showed us our way to the first of eight different zip lines that we'd be enjoying. What was really awesome is they made us feel safe while maintaining the fun aspect of zip lining. The first line was also a beginners feel on what it was like to zip line which really helped ease Abbie for the rest of them. As we got through more and more of the zip lines, the scenery changed they got higher and longer. On a few of them, you are able to soar over a huge pond and on another you can dip your hand or feet into the pond as you glide to the other side. After a thrilling zip lining experience, we were invited to the bar portion where you can enjoy a snack and yummy alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage.

Once we finished our zip lining adventure, we headed back to the hotel to get ready to enjoy yet another brew pub. This time we visited Fort George Brewery for drinks before we met up with family again to eat out. I had a pint of City of Dreams which was a tasty light beer while Abbie had a yummy red wine. After our glasses were empty, we had some time to catch sunset so we crossed the bridge over to Warrenton and visited the Shipwreck Of Peter Iredale. When we got there, we were greeted with a light, brisk breeze and the sky glowing of soft red, yellow, orange, and pink which made for some awesome photo opportunities. When the sun finally settled below the horizon, Abbie and I made our way to The Uptown Cafe for dinner. I ordered the fish tacos and they were in fact THE BEST fish tacos that I've ever had in my life. I highly recommend going here and ordering the fish tacos. Don't even bother with anything else on the menu. I ate them so fast I forgot to take photos of them. Oops!

To finish out our trip we slept in a little bit and made our way over to Mo's Seafood & Chowder right as the doors opened for clam chowder and fish & chips! We made sure to save room for ice cream. Frite & Scoop is a cool little shop fairly close to the water that serves unique flavors of ice cream along with french fries. What could pair better than sugary ice cream and salty fries right!? For ice cream, I went with the Blackberry Cobbler while Abbie chose the Oregon Salted Caramel. Both were delicious!
