Fishing boats unload their catch, tugboats guide massive ships, and businesses along the river are busy year-round. You're welcome to watch the action, snap a few photos, and enjoy the scenery, but remember that many docks, warehouses, and work areas are private or active industrial spaces.

The Astoria Riverfront Trail offers great views of the working waterfront. The Warrenton and Hammond marinas are excellent places to watch both commercial and recreational boats return with the day's catch.

Our scenic highways are beautiful, and many visitors enjoy exploring them by car, bike, or motorcycle. If you stop for a photo, please use designated pullouts or parking areas rather than the shoulder. In Astoria, consider leaving your car parked and hopping aboard the Astoria Riverfront Trolley for a scenic narrated ride along the Columbia River.

Leave Nature Better Than You Found It
