Since 1894, the Astoria Regatta has been a family tradition for people throughout Clatsop County, including Knappa, Warrenton, Gearhart, Seaside, and Cannon Beach, and everywhere in between! It has been designated a Historic Cultural Tradition by the Oregon State Historic Commission.

Wednesday Welcome

The four-day festival includes events for all ages. It all starts on Wednesday, when we honor last year’s Regatta Queen with a special Farewell. Following that, a new Queen from this year’s Royal Court will be crowned at the Queen’s Coronation at The Liberty Theater. Congratulate the new Queen and meet the entire Royal Court at the Queen’s Reception.

Thursday for Family Fun

Then, on Thursday evening, the Kiwanis Junior Parade at Warrenton City Park stars our youngest community members. It’s a great tradition, and a lot of fun for the whole family. Stay after the parade for a relaxing movie under the stars!

Friday for Honor

Friday, the many traditional events of the Astoria Regatta start off with the annual Gathering of Past Admirals and Presidents Luncheon, followed by a beautiful tribute to those who have gone to sea, and made the ultimate sacrifice. Navy, Coast Guard, commercial fishermen and others are honored at the Maritime Memorial Park under the Astoria-Megler Bridge. The Sector Commander of the U.S. Coast Guard will preside over the Seamen’s Memorial, along with Regatta Admirals and the 2019 Regatta Queen. Friday evening, the Admiral’s Reception is one of Astoria’s social highlights of the year. It is a grand gathering, featuring appetizers from the best chefs in town, and craft beer and wines from our world-famous micro breweries.

Saturday for Floats and Boats

Saturday is the big day! Just before the big parade, runners compete for cash prizes in the 1-mile Fun Run. At noon, the Grand Land Parade winds its way through the streets of Downtown Astoria, and features fantastic floats, dancers, marching bands, and our own Astoria Regatta Court and this year’s Grand Marshal. Throughout the day, the center of the Astoria Regatta universe is Regatta Square, located in the center of the parade downtown. Here, you can get re-charged with some incredible food, fun, live music and a Kids’ Fun Zone, offering even more fun for the little ones.

Then, before the sun goes down, the Highwater Boat Parade gives you the chance to see a variety of vessels, large and small, from small sport craft and sailboats to commercial fishing boats and larger industrial craft. Make sure to keep an eye out for the Columbia River Bar Pilots as they lead the parade with the Regatta Queen, and Royal Court aboard.

So come and join us for one of the oldest festivals west of the Rocky Mountains. Experience all the wonderful restaurants and shops in our historic downtown area, visit our landmarks, and explore the rest of the beautiful Sunset Empire while you are here. You might never want to leave!
