The Seven Last Words of Christ refers to the seven short phases that Jesus uttered on the cross, as gathered from the four Christian Gospels of Luke, John, Matthew and Mark. Traditionally these seven phrases are called words of: 1. Forgiveness.  2. Salvation. 3. Relationship. 4. Abandonment. 5. Distress. 6. Triumph and 7. Reunion.  These sayings form part of a Christian meditation often used during Holy Week.  The Crucifixion of Jesus has served as inspiration to a great many composers over the centuries. In particular, at least 16 composers have written musical settings of the Seven Last Words, for various combinations of voice and/or instruments.

Join the North Coast Chorale in collaboration with local musicians for a production of this inspiring and moving piece of music composed by 19th Century composer Theodore Dubois.  The performance will be held during Holy Week on Wednesday April 17th at 7pm at the Performing Arts Center in Astoria.
This event is brought to you by Lums's Auto Center in Warrenton OR, your local Toyota Dealer.  This performance is supported by the Oregon Arts Commission.
