Fiber festival! We have vendors with all kinds of fiber craft items to sell. We also have classes to learn how to do various fiber crafts like knitting, crochet, needle felting, weaving of different kinds and more. Our website has the list of classes that we offer and a sign up page for those classes. This year we will have a small petting zoo and a few classes for children. Our event is free so come across the river and join us!

Downtown Astoria hosts Astoria’s Artwalk on the second Saturday every month, when galleries and other venues host the opening of month long curated visual art exhibitions. The Warrenton Community Library is hosting author R.J. Marx at "Library After Dark" on Saturday, November 8 at 4 p.m. R.J. will share more about his research process, read excerpts from his work and answer audience questions. R.J. Marx is a veteran journalist and editor whose most recent book is "Seaside’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Riots: How a Coastal City’s Labor Day Riots Heralded a Decade of Unrest". After a two-decade career as editor of the award-winning Record-Review in New York’s Westchester County, he relocated to the Oregon Coast in 2015, serving as editor of the "Seaside Signal" and "Cannon Beach Gazette" until his retirement in 2023. His time on the North Coast introduced Marx to the historical events of Seaside in the 1960s. Two years of research, including in-depth interviews with eyewitnesses, culminated in "Seaside’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Riots". In addition to his writing, Marx is a gigging jazz saxophonist. Join the North Coast Symphonic Band on an Epic Adventure The program “Epics and Adventures” opens the 46th season for the North Coast Symphonic Band Sunday, Nov. 9, at the Liberty Theatre. From Rossano Galante’s “Mt. Everest” to Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Sea Songs,” the concert features an array of music “to transport listeners to fantastic places near and far,” said conductor and musical director Terry Dahlgren. The band will also take audiences on a road trip coast to coast across the United States, from “The Sidewalks of New York” to San Francisco - where Tony Bennett left his heart, in his signature song. Get ready for a cinematic adventure for your ears! Doors open at 1 p.m. and the Trolley Stop Combo will provide prelude music starting at 1:30 p.m. The band encourages audiences to purchase admission tickets in advance for $15 at the Liberty Theatre Box Office from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays or online at www.libertyastoria.showare.com. Tickets purchased the day of the concert are $20. High school students are admitted free; admission for middle school students and younger is free with a paying adult. The Liberty is located on the corner of 12th and Commercial streets in Astoria. The NCSB is a nonprofit community performing arts group composed of local musicians of all ages who enjoy networking, learning from each other, and maintaining their skill levels in a positive and supportive environment. The NCSB performs four concerts per year at the historic Liberty Theatre in Astoria. Upcoming performances will be Feb. 1, April 12, and July 3, 2026. Rehearsals are from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays at the Charlene Larsen Center for the Performing Arts (PAC) in Astoria. The band is currently full, but players come and go. Musicians interested in joining should get on the wait list by sending an email to Personnel Director Lee Stromquist at encore1@charter.net or call (503) 861-1328. Potential new members should read music, own their own instruments, and have advanced high school level performance skills or higher. The Oregon Film Museum is proud to inspire the next generation of storytellers across our state. We are thrilled to announce the third annual Oregon Film Museum Selig Award, an honor presented each year to a young Oregonian making a meaningful impact in the local film industry.

Join us for the award presentation ceremony, which is free and open to the public.

Our partner, Outside the Frame, is a dynamic Portland-based nonprofit that empowers homeless and marginalized youth to become directors of their own films—and their own lives. Through filmmaking, OTF provides creative expression, job skills, a supportive audience, and a renewed sense of dignity and possibility. Their mission is simple yet powerful: If youth experiencing homelessness can make films, they can do anything.

The Selig Award is named in honor of William Selig, founder of the pioneering Selig Polyscope Company. Selig’s innovations helped shape the early film industry, including the creation of Hollywood, cliffhangers, multi-reel films, and travelogues. In 1909, his company filmed The Fisherman’s Bride in Astoria—the first commercial narrative film shot in Oregon.

Ask questions, hear fascinating stories, and see the Museum in a whole new way! Can’t make it this time? These tours will be offered twice a month on Sundays at 11:00am (tours last about 45 minutes) throughout the Fall. Tours are included with Museum Admission – MEMBERS are FREE! Join us for TNT (Thursday Night Talks) on November 20 as journalist and publisher Stephen Forrester discusses his new biography, Richard Neuberger: Oregon Politics and the Making of a US Senator.

The book explores Neuberger’s journey from groundbreaking journalist to Oregon’s first Democratic U.S. Senator in forty years. His legacy includes conservation leadership, a prolific writing career, and a political partnership with his wife, Maurine, who succeeded him in the Senate after his death in 1960.

Forrester will share insights into Neuberger’s advocacy, his reporting on Nazi Germany, and his influence on Oregon politics and figures like Governor Tom McCall.

The event is free and held at Fort George Brewery’s Lovell Showroom (14th & Duane, Astoria). Doors open at 6:00 p.m.; talk begins at 7:00 p.m. Food and beverages available. Minors welcome with an adult.

Panchito Aguirre Y Su Mariachi Chapala will perform at the Charlene Larsen Center for the Performing Arts at 3 pm, Sunday, November 23. This professional Mariachi band concert and their work with the newly formed Astoria High School Mariachi Band is made possible by the collaboration of the Partners for the PAC Education Fund and the Clatsop County Cultural Coalition.
